Bob Shearer has a passion for golf and golf courses. He is one of Australia's most successful golfers, turning professional in 1970 after winning the Australian Amateur Championship in 1969.

He spent 5 years on the European Tour before moving to the USA to play on the US PGA Tour for 9 years, accumulating more than 25 victories around the world including the Australian Open, New Zealand Open, Madrid Open, Tallahassee Open and the Australian, NSW, SA, Vic, Tas, and New Zealand PGA Titles.

He has over 12 years experience working alongside a number of world renowned Golf Course Architects, helping with the design and construction of many courses in Asia and Australia.

In 1998, his experience, skills and confidence was such that he launched his own design company - "Shearer Golf Design" which has now taken precedence over his playing career, save for the occasional foray to Europe to play on the Seniors Tour.

Bob's wide experience of playing golf around the world along with many years of designing and constructing courses has helped him become a hands-on designer sensitive to the needs of the natural environment, aware of the developers wishes to create economically viable projects, but also conscious of the desire of players for an interesting and challenging day at the golf course.

His history of playing at Augusta, the US and British Open courses gives him a unique first-hand understanding and appreciation of the game, the purpose of the course and its intended users.

Bob has fully embraced golf. He has written for newspapers and magazines, plus formed part of the television commentatory team for events in Australia. He was on the PGA board for 6 years where he influenced the final outcome of many tournaments throughout Australasia and since 1994 has been a member of the Society of Australian Golf Course Architects.
